This can cut the groove deeper and is advanced to the next groove. Then a paper shim is placed under the cutter and the process is repeated till the grooves are deepened to your goal. A slow and labor intensive job but rather simple.It is way easier than most folks that haven't pulled a load before realize to pull a load with a ball puller, especially on a clean barrel. If you don't already have one, get one with the brass ring that keeps the screw centered in the barrel. Screw it in and pull it. When I got to the range I wiped the bore, poured 60 grains of Pyrodex RS down the hole and started the pre lubed bullet. It got about 12 inches down the bore and stopped.. Huge tits huge boobs
Apr 20, 2017. #2. Russ Hamm died years ago. His early locks were OK, his later locks were POS. You would have to check with Chambers to see if they had a suitable replacement. Russ worked 3rd shift at a GM plant. Whatever metal the plant was casting is what he used. I built a flintlock using a Russ Hamm lock.The short barrel like 20 or 22 inches is cute but has lots of short comings in muzzle loaders. The old timers sorted out how long a barrel needed to be and as powder got better the barrel got shorter. Looking at late guns and into the black powder cartridge rifles 30-32 inches became the normal length for full sized rifles.I did get a chance to physically hold a Pedersoli Blue Ridge in a 50 caliber, flintlock, this past Saturday. It was a very used one, at a local gun shop and priced within $70 of a new one. My second choice would be a Lyman Great Plains rifle, in a 50 caliber, percussion....but I'd prefer the long rifle.With the common double set double lever set triggers, the fly is needed to allow the hammer or cock to fall from a fully cocked position to the fired position without your finger holding the trigger back. Hi ACFlowers91, I recommend Chambers over TVM kits. I am familiar with both and dislike the architecture of almost all TWM offerings. The web of wood separating the barrel from the ramrod channel is too thick creating a clunky appearance usually with the ramrod hanging below the muzzle cap.In the next few days I'll be out at the board. Going to test 80 grain 2f, 2 over powder cards, 1 & 1/4 oz 5 shot, lubed fiber wad. The second is the same but shot is in a paper shotcup. I use Barricade- formerly marketed as Sheath- for rust protection after cleaning with kitchen tap hot water and dish soap to clean barrel and lock. A cleaning patch is dampened well with Barricade, and rubbed all over the lock and exterior metal parts of the rifle..
